Plastic Surgery?

I came across this image put together by my friend and fellow makeup artist, Emma Skelton. It dawned on me that the battered body of a man or woman having just undergone plastic surgery has some connection with my title.

In my previous mood board I included some images of dolls, and in particular an image of a Barbie doll with a black eye. Emma's work really reminds of that image, with the block blue shadow on the eyelids and half of a rosy doll pout that you would expect to find on a Barbie.

I really like the way Emma has included the dotted line to suggest a "cut here" mark and this is an idea I wish to explore a little further. I want to explore the process of putting a unharmed body completely through the wars in a quest for perfection. I am not interested in the outcome, just the messy bit in between.
